I watched this movie because I had just finished the novel. It’s pretty typical to say that “the book was better than the movie” and, in this case, things were no different. The movie followed the plot of the book closely, and strayed only a few times. The characters and scenery were as I pictured them in my head, although, the movie portrayed the Grandmother and Aunt Aggie as much less miserable. In general, the movie seemed to leave out some of the optimism and humor I enjoyed in the book.
