I’m not a huge fan of super-hero action movies, but I thought this film was well done. Part of that might have to do with the fact that it was directed by Chris Nolan, who also did Memento. My only problem with this movie was that Bruce Wayne was played by Christian Bale, and I kept thinking of him as the American Psycho. In this movie, however, Bale plays the good guy, and the focus is on Wayne’s early years, leading up to his choice to fight evil and become Batman. When Wayne returns to Gotham City, after disappearing for seven years, he and his loyal butler, Alfred, re-discover the caves under the Wayne estate. Meanwhile, Gotham City is facing corruption at the highest levels, as mob boss, Falcone, runs the city through money and fear. Batman comes to the rescue, only to find out that Falcone is simply a puppet for a much bigger enemy.
