I was really looking forward to this book, as I was in the mood for a good detective story, and this book got great reviews. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that good. I just couldn’t get into it, and I had to force myself to read a few pages every night. Parts were funny, as the main character, Lionel Essrog, has Tourette’s syndrome, and he blurts out some tics that made me laugh out loud, but it just wasn’t enough to carry the book. The detective story behind the murder that happens at the beginning didn’t draw me in, and by the end, I didn’t care who did it, I just wanted the book to be over.
