In this film, Ewan McGregor plays Lincoln Six Echo and lives in a utopian society where he and the others are told that they are the lone survivors of some contamination that affects the outside world. Everyone lives for the lottery, which happens about once a week. The people are told that they win a trip to “the island”, the last remaining uncontaminated spot on earth. Echo soon discovers that there is no island, and that a much darker future awaits those who go to the island. This futuristic movie was action packed with lots of shooting and running from the enemy, but overall the unoriginal plot reminded me so much of Paycheck and Minority Report where the main character is fighting against some larger power to save himself and others.
