This was probably the worst book-to-movie adaptation I’ve ever seen. Pat Conroy’s book was excellent with many subplots and great characters. The movie only focused on the main plot while leaving out the interesting subplots. In addition, the movie had a completely different ending than the book, which brought the movie down. The 80’s music throughout didn’t help either.
