P.D. James
I have yet to read a P.D. James book in the traditional way, because I enjoy Charles Keating’s narration so much. His British accent adds so much to the story and as much as Jim Collins took away from the book in his narration of Good to Great, Keating adds so much to the characters and plot with his voice. In this novel, Adam Dalgliesh returns as detective for Scotland Yard to solve a murder that has taken place on Combe Island. In the manner of his previous novels, James seems to focus on the quirks and eccentricities of his characters, while the plot was a little thin. Still, I enjoy Keating’s voice enough that I’ll continue to listen to James’ novels whenever I’m in the mood for a good English mystery.
