This movie is based on the book by Jhumpa Lahiri. Mira Nair did a good job of adapting the novel into a two-hour movie, although she skips a good bit in the beginning half of the movie. I really enjoyed Irfan Khan, who plays Ashoke Ganguli, an Indian who emigrates with his wife to America in the 1970′s. The Ganguli’s have a son, Gogol, and the rest of the film focuses on his life.
