Laura Moriarty
I’ve had this book for a few years. For some reason, I never got into it. I’m glad I decided to give it another shot; this time, I got sucked into it. Moriarty’s dialog is sharp and funny. The story begins with ten-year-old Evelyn Bucknow, growing up with a single mom in a small Kansas town and follows her through her senior year in high school. She experiences the confusion of religion and God, gaining and losing friends, and teen pregnancy. Overall, a great debut novel for Moriarty.
