This novel is a fascinating journey into one family’s year-long commitment to eating locally. Kingsolver, her husband, and two daughters all take on their share of work in running the family farm to produce enough food to feed them for one year. The family also raises turkeys, both for eating and eggs, and they make a commitment to purchase items (that they don’t grow or raise on their farm) from local farms and farmers’ markets. A great read for anyone who loves food and also cares about our environment.
