Sue Miller
This novel sucked me in the same way Anne Tyler’s novels do. Like Tyler, Miller writes about people, their lives, interactions, and influences on each other. In this book, she tells the story of two neighbors whose lives intersect for a short while. Meri and her husband, Nathan, move into a New England town home that is adjacent to the home of Tom and Delia Naughton, an elderly couple. Tom, a former senator, is never around, and Meri soon discovers that the couple’s married life was difficult and fraught with infidelity.
