Cormac McCarthy
We listened to this audiobook on our trip to Boston this past weekend. Ed suggested it, and though I was skeptical at first, I reminded myself that I did enjoy The Road. The book was captivating from the start, with the introduction of evil incarnate, Anton Chigurh. While violent at times, the novel moves along quickly, as Chigurh escapes from prison and begins his sociopathic killings in search of a large shipment of drugs and drug money. As in The Road, McCarthy has a very grim outlook on the current state of our world, which is seen through the eyes of the novel’s “good-guy”, Sheriff Ed Tom Bell.
