Quinceanera

Quinceanera

Decent coming-of-age story about a 14-year old girl preparing for her big 15th birthday, when she realizes she is pregnant.  Her religious-fanatic father kicks her out of the house, so she lives with her non-judgmental uncle and gay cousin.

I have not seen Juno but I felt that this film must have inspired it at least in a tangential fashion.

I think it’s possible. What’s interesting is how differently the two cultures handle each pregnancy. In Juno, the parents are upset, but are willing to support Juno’s decision of adoption. In Quinceanera, Magdalena is kicked out of the house for embarrassing her family. Maybe you should check out Juno, after all…
