Week 2 of our CSA food brought much of the same vegetables as week 1. We received a bunch of leafy greens: heads of red and green lettuce, Swiss chard, spinach, and kale. Needless to say, we’ve been eating lots of salads! We also received broccoli, turnips, and strawberries. The strawberries were delicious. Even Ed, who isn’t a big fan of them, ate a good bit. To get through more of the greens, we sauteed them up and threw them on pizza. I also tried out a new recipe for Baked Polenta with Swiss Chard and Cheese. I roasted our turnips in the oven and added them to the recipe. It turns out I don’t like turnips very much right now. I used to… but they seemed too peppery for me and I didn’t like them with the polenta. I think I would make the recipe again, but with the addition of other vegetables, such as broccoli and tomatoes, to give it more flavor.
