Straight Talking

Jane Green
I took this to South Carolina as one of my fluffy beach reads.  It was, as expected, funny, easy to read, and followed the classic chick-lit plot-line.  Tasha, the main character, has a good job, good friends, but (and what else would a chic-lit novel be about?) no man.

The Vaccine Book

Dr. Robert Sears
If you’re a new or expecting parent, you’re bound to come across the controversial vaccination dilemma.  In the last month alone, both Parenting magazine and Time magazine featured articles on this topic, although both seemed to fall on the pro-vaccine side. I’ve read the stories claiming that vaccines can cause any type of […]

A more recent Woody Allen movie, the Jade Scorpion had the usual funny dialog, mystery, and comic suspense that made its way into Scoop and [to some degree] Match Point.  Helen Hunt and Dan Aykroyd played good opposites and Allen played the aloof insurance agent perfectly.  And Jessie Spano from “Saved by the Bell” plays […]

Second Chance

Jane Green
Another fun, light read.  I enjoyed this one more than “Can You Keep a Secret?”.  This one had a bit more depth and reminded me of “The Big Chill” in the sense that it’s about college friends being reunited and they each have their own problems.

Eclipse

Stephenie Meyer
This is the latest book in the Twilight series.  Like the previous two books, it was easy to slip into this book.  But, unlike the other two, I felt disappointed in the turn this book took.  Bella continues her romance with Edward, while finishing her senior year at high school.  She also struggles with […]

2008 CSA, Weeks 4 and 5

I’m rolling the last two weeks into one post.  We had a busy couple of weeks and weren’t able to get to our veggies as much as we have in the past.  We haven’t been getting any spinach, although we’re not lacking in leafy greens!  We still got lots of kale, Swiss chard, […]
