Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth

Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth

Ina May Gaskin

Gaskin, a midwife, has attended over 2000 natural births and provides insight into a woman’s natural ability to give birth without major medical intervention.  The first part of this book tells the  stories of the many women Gaskin attended to during their labors and births.  The second half deals with natural birthing and how to achieve a calm, natural childbirth with minimal medical intervention.  Overall, this was a very positive, encouraging book for those about to give birth, or those considering pregnancy.  Even if your birth plan includes a hospital birth and/or medical intervention, this book can provide a positive light on a subject that is all too often shadowed with horror stories of long, stressful labors.
