Sweeney Todd

Lots of blood and gore. It was directed by Tim Burton, but I got tired of watching the blood spurting from the necks of Sweeney’s customers.  Good soundtrack, though.

Across the Universe

Great movie, musical, and love story that incorporates The Beatles music.  Jude, a shipbuilder from Liverpool, travels to the United States in search of his father.  There, he meets Lucy and the two fall in love.  Their world is shaken by Lucy’s brother being drafted to fight in Vietnam and they become anti-war activists.

Even though this musical has been on Broadway for 12 years, we just got around to seeing it.  It’s been on our list, and we love the movie and the soundtrack.  The musical and movie don’t deviate much from each other, but the musical has so much energy, that I enjoyed the live performance more.
